Part 2 of our building a game with Titanium appcelerator and open source tools will be split up in a few posts.
Part2 is about making the art for the game. This is part 2.1 and I'll explain how to draw a chick in Blender3D.

We will add materials to it and render it in a few positions. In part 2.2 we will use these renders and will draw on them with the Gimp. (Adding scratches, blood, smoke etc...)

PHP translate function using google

20-06-2011

When you write those multiple language websites you have to make sure everything can be translated. Even the user interface. And this is most of the time something we overlook or you use icons instead.

In this tutorial I show you a nice translation function. And if you do not know any translation for that specific word. It will look it up on Google translate!

Titanium Appcelerator App Performance boost.

19-06-2011

Fruit memory is programmed in Titanium Appcelerator. So this article is about boosting your apps created with Titanium appcelerator. But I think this will work on native apps to. Let me explain why:

When I was programming Fruit Memory I gave every screen a different window. Result the app became very slow. That reminded me when I was programming about 10 years ago for an HP IPAQ. Back then I used visual studio tools to create a time tracking software. The language I used was vb6. I had the same performance issues with that app because I first used a form for each form (Sounds logical). I figured out when I used only one form and used tabs that I showed or hid I had a huge performance boost. I used that idea again. I created views instead of windows and bam. It worked out for me.

In this tutorial I show you how to code with views in Titanium Appcelerator.
